This programme supports residents, community projects, and organisations within Adur and Worthing.
We want to help local communities. To lead projects that tackle the cost-of-living crisis and make life easier.
We want to help people develop great ideas, work together, and turn small actions into big change.
We’re offering fully funded:
*Unrestricted funding = funding that has no restrictions on what you can spend the money on within your organisation. For example, you may need funding to help run your organisation's or project's day-to-day operations. Or you may need to pay for staff training or new tools.
The home is where it all starts, we need warmth, social interaction and belonging. We often gather round a kitchen table. It's a place where many would feel welcome. And it's where a lot of great ideas are thought of. Even large organisations start with ideas that were thought up round a kitchen table.
The cost-of-living crisis is affecting everyone. Some of us, our neighbours, and friends are being affected more than others.
We know that individuals and local organisations make a massive difference. And produce a huge amount of impact within our communities. But there are common challenges faced in producing that impact. And the cost-of-living crisis is only adding to those challenges.
We want to support individuals and organisations. We want to help you turn small actions into big change. And we want to help tackle the cost-of-living crisis.
To do this, we need to shake things up and do things differently.
This programme aims to:
This project is only possible due to Adur & Worthing Councils successfully securing funding via UKSPF.
There are certain restrictions associated with the funding, which include the deadline we have to spend the funds.
To meet this requirement, we need to ensure we follow certain steps before awarding the grants, which include the application process and due diligence associated with awarding the grant.
We know grassroots ideas and projects can be hard to get started. And it's hard to take time away from your work to invest in developing new projects and/or your organisation.
So, to kick things off, we’re offering participants a small financial contribution to your organisation. This will be provided straight away. It could help you with running costs, day-to-day operations, travel costs etc.
If you’re a resident, we will be able to release this as you take part in the programme.
We'll also connect you with various specialists and experts throughout the programme. Their support and guidance is free of charge and part of the programme.
During the programme, you'll have the opportunity to access further funding. If you're eligible, this will be awarded before the end of March.
This is a six-month experimental programme.
We're offering support to suit different ideas and projects, including:
Where needed, we’ll introduce:
Eligibility will be determined by several factors, including:
We know most of you will be juggling different commitments.
Wherever you're based, you'll be able to take part in the programme. We'll aim to offer everything remotely. You'll need a good internet connection, and to be able to access Zoom. It's best to join calls in a quiet, comfortable location so you can focus and get the most out of the programme.
Some group training sessions will be recorded, but we recommend joining live so you can get the most out of it.
We also know that face to face is sometimes preferred.
We’ll develop the programme and remain flexible. We’ll ensure we listen.
We'll be offering support to people and groups in a variety of ways depending on what you need.
Some examples of what support we can offer:
Prices of essentials e.g., food, energy, and housing, are rising faster than people's income.
This makes it hard to afford to live and meet basic needs.
It's caused by inflation, higher energy costs and supply chain issues.
Communities need help financially and are having to drastically cut back on necessities. Some are even being forced into debt just to put food on the table.
The cost of food is a huge part of the cost-of-living crisis. But we're also keen to hear about ideas that focus on other areas as well e.g. energy, housing, childcare.
If your idea/project doesn't cover any of the above, it may still be relevant. We want to know what the cost-of-living crisis means to you. So, please do apply and share your ideas with us!
Funding People and Adur & Worthing Councils have partnered to offer this opportunity.
Funding People are running a six-month independent programme to support local projects.
The aim is to work with you, help you experiment, develop your ideas, and give your community the help it needs.
Participants can also access funding as part of this programme.
Funding People CIC is a Community Interest Company Ltd. by guarantee. (meaning we’re a nonprofit org too!)
We help leaders of small charities and nonprofits access funding.
We’ve been there ourselves and know what it takes to develop community initiatives. So, we do much more than grant writing...
We work alongside community leaders and help them understand the funding world. We give them support where we can and connect them to other expertise where needed.
We want to start helping people right now!
We’re taking applications from now until 5pm, Monday 17th February 2025.
So, if you have an idea brewing - even if it’s very early stage - don’t be shy, we’re keen to hear from you.
If you need help with your application, drop us a line at TableTalk@FundingPeople.org by 3pm Tuesday 11th February 2025 and we’ll see if we can help.
We will review all application forms submitted by the deadline.
We will let you know if your application has been successful or not by Tuesday 25th February at 5pm.
The Kitchen Table programme starts on Wednesday 26th February! We will send information to successful applicants about what happens next and to book your first meeting or workshop.
We will let you know if your application has been successful or not by Tuesday 25th February at 5pm.
We want to help individuals and groups tackle the cost-of-living crisis in their area.
Cost-of-living can mean many things to many people.
When it comes to creating innovative solutions for your community, you know best. And that's why we want you to take the lead. We want to support and enable local people to create the solutions that help them the most.
Some ideas could be:
Those are a few examples.
We want to hear from you if you're an Adur and Worthing resident or serve its community, and tick any of these boxes:
A good idea is a good idea.
And we'd love to see if we can help you make a positive difference in your community.
We don’t need any monetary investment from you to be part of this initiative. But we do expect you to invest time in your project.
We’re supporting you with guidance/mentorship, training, and possible funding. But you’ll be the one driving your idea forward.
We all work differently. As a guide, we suggest about 25 hours per month will be needed.
You cannot apply for funding alone, no. To be eligible for funding, you need to take part in the entire programme.
We want to support your project/organisation's growth and stability. And we want you to be confident in yourself and your project/organisation's direction.
The best way to do this is to ensure your project is on the right track before being awarded funding. It'll be much easier for you to know where you need to be distributing funds if you make the most of the programme first.
Applications have now close and we are currently reviewing all applications submitted before the deadline.
Applicants were asked to send an Expression of Interest with questions including:
There are no wrong answers here!
No! We’re accepting applications from individuals as well as established (and not-so-established) groups.
Even if you only have the beginnings of an idea scribbled on a scrap of paper, we still want to hear from you.
A good idea is a good idea!
We want communities working together to get these projects off the ground!
We would love anyone and everyone who's interested in getting involved.
You may have expertise or skills in a certain area or are connected to someone who may be able to help. Perhaps you'd like to do some volunteering or want to help by hosting events? Or maybe you'd like to donate to a specific project?
If it makes sense and we can make it work, we would love any support you're willing to give! After all, this programme is about connecting, sharing, and solving problems. Together.

Of course. A huge part of this work is getting the community working together in whatever way they can. No matter how big or small of an action you take, it can help.
Send us your stories or ideas to TableTalk@FundingPeople.org
We will review and share these to see if any other organisations could take your idea forward.

The programme will be in English, email us at:

If we can help, we will.
We want everyone to feel involved. We also need to ensure we adhere to certain policies when awarding grants.
If you are under 18 and have an idea, do you have an adult that could lead the work and help you take this forward? If not, still apply, if successful, we might be able to match you with someone in the programme.
We'll be monitoring the progress of this programme, and share its impact at the end.
Of course!
This is a brand-new initiative. It's important to us that we're making a genuine impact. So, participants will be surveyed regularly to let us know how/if they think we can improve anything.
You'll also have the opportunity to give feedback during workshops and training sessions.
